Garner ISD Library

Welcome to the Garner Library
where we agree with
Thomas Jefferson who said:

"I cannot live without books."

Our goal is to encourage your child to be
a lifetime reader and library user.

The librarian is the educator in the building who works with
all the students, all the teachers, all the curriculum, all the time.

Library Staff

Mrs. Michelle Barton is the library aide, and the best part of Mrs. Barton's job is working with all the students as they come to the library weekly.  She also has story time with grades K - 3, and she enjoys suggestions books for the older readers to enjoy based on their individual interests.  Another component of her job is processing new books.  It takes at least five steps to get each book ready for the teachers and students to check out. When she isn't with a class or processing books, she is re-shelving books---every librarians hourly/daily chore.  Teacher requImageests also keep Mrs. Barton busy whether it is laminating or pulling books for themed units.

Mrs. Sandra Moore is a retired librarian who works part time for Garner ISD.  Whether she is on campus or working from home, her major task is selecting, ordering and cataloging books that support the curriculum and enhance reading options for the teachers and students. She also coordinates the yearly author's visit.

New AR Computers in the Library
Image

Computers in the library serve as research tools, AR testing, and on line card catalog searching.  Six new computers replaced the slow, outdated computers used in the library for several years.  The sleek black computers are fast and efficient and a welcome addition to the library.
