Rebecca Hallmark– Superintendent
Garner Independent School District
Official Start Date at Garner ISD: July 18, 2014
I graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in December 1999. I later returned to Tarleton to earn a Master of Education degree in Counseling in May of 2007. In May of 2008, I completed my principal certification followed by my superintendent coursework at University of Texas at Permian Basin that was completed in May 2009.
I grew up on a peanut farm just north of Carbon, Texas, population 281. I attended dual-grade classrooms through grade six before attending middle school and high school in Eastland, Texas. These early educational experiences and work ethic developed from working on a family farm influenced my decision to become a public school teacher and later administrator. A strong academic foundation balanced with a willingness to work hard are two characteristics you will observe at Garner ISD.
One of my leadership and personal beliefs follows Zig Ziglar's book "See Ya at the Top"
1st-God, 2nd- Family, 3rd-Career. I strive daily to keep this life balance and to model this belief for the staff, families, and community of Garner ISD.
