What is the Garner Afterschool Program?
The Garner Afterschool Program is made possible by the U.S. Department of Education’s Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant funded through the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The grant works to support and help students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other education services to families of participating children.
Students will receive one hour of academic support/homework help and enrichment activity daily (Culinary Arts, STEM, Sports, Arts and Crafts, Peer Mentoring, Career Exploration, etc.). The Garner Afterschool Program also includes field trips and family events as part of its offerings.
Our vision at the Garner Afterschool Program is to work together with school staff, families, and the surrounding community to empower students to realize their potential and change the world! Join us in creating a brighter future for our students and community through the Garner Afterschool Program.
